Step by step
Six steps to start an estate in Richmond County
- Find the death certificate and the will, if there is one. Write down who is in the family and where they live.
- Read the Richmond court page and our forms guide.
- Pick e-filing through TrueFiling, or bring the papers to Suite 1000 on James Brown Boulevard. Sign with ink either way.
- Pay at least the $30 deposit to file. The chart shows $215 for a petition.
- Wait for the judge to sign the order. Then take the oath.
- Ask the clerk which newspaper runs the notice.
These steps give the general path. They do not say which petition fits your family.
